Description

Great old working lamp (rewired in modern times).  Lamp is 119 years old and features a Van Briggle pottery vase capped with a wood cap and sitting in (not on) a wooden base.  The wood has lost much of it's blackened coloring and appears to have transferred some of color to the bottom edge of the vase.  I am guessing that this lamp was a production piece from Van Briggle Pottery Studio rather than a novice lamps creation....the reason for thinking it's a Van Briggle production is that both the cap and base are perfectly fitted to the size of the vase.
The lamp has a brown mat glaze with a green accent overlay on the stylized roses around the top and the thorny branches down three sides of the vase.  Overall height is 24", base is 6.5" wide.  Pottery vase is approx. 13" tall.  There are no chips, see pics for discoloration marks.
