Without the sun, the human race would not exist. It is one of the few things that our survival depends on. We live our lives in the constant glow and natural warmth radiating from a giant explosion millions of kilometers away. We love to warm ourselves beneath its rays and rejoice on days when it is particularly bright. We celebrate these moments of shine, but rarely in our modern world, do we celebrate the star itself.
Broder Oetken has handcrafted a planetary gong using the same hertz frequency as we are familiar with from Paiste. Broder describes the frequency and vibration thusly:
126.22 Hz in the note of B2
However, the gong vibrates an octave lower.
126.22 divided by 2 = 63.11 Hz in the note of B1.
Oetken's gong is characterized by his high production quality and in its handmade decorative aspects. The surface has been scraped to create star-like beams radiating from the center of the gong outwards to the edges, creating a subtly beautiful effect. This particular sized gong is called "Sol Mobilis" or "Mobile Sun" because unlike the Paiste Sun gong which is 38 inches in diameter, and the Meinl (which Broder also makes) which is 36 inches in diameter, this gong is 32" and is much easier to transport.
All Oetken gongs are made from NS12 (nickel silver) also known as Alpaka, a material used in German gong making. This is the same metal and from the same sources that Paiste uses to create their high quality gongs due to its wide-ranging sound and potency.
