Description
KM 167.2, two year type. Quarter dollar size copper-nickel coin, with a defiant Condor on the obverse.During World War I, and shortly thereafter, the countries of Central and South America experienced rampant inflation. In many of these countries, there was a substantial reduction (or elimination) of the silver in their coinage. Chile experimented with various purities and sizes of its coins. By 1920, Chile had removed all of the silver from its 20 centavos coins. Because the earlier years have silver content, many of them have been remelted and many types are difficult to locate.
