They were originally used as a call to worship, as a form of communication between villages and temples, and as a way to clear bad chi (energy) from an area. Nowadays, gongs have taken on a more artistic and symbolic role. It can be featured on a stand or hung from a cord. It also makes a beautiful decor piece.
